I’m a firm believer in organized chaos, creativity with a spreadsheet... the right brain has the ideas and the left brain gets them done. I have experience with many forms of visual storytelling, but my favorite way to tell stories is through film and design. My other favorite thing is to make sure stories get told on time and within budget through the art of organization and project management. I am exceptional at understanding brands and brand storytelling through my own business, Huckleberry Studios. Beyond that, I love to collaborate with people who have vision. I’m really good at taking a seed of an idea and turning it into a fruit-bearing tree.
Previously, I worked as the multimedia and design editor and project manager for Carnegie-Knight News21, an investigative journalism program. Before that, I was the post-production supervisor at Catalyst, based at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where I also taught a graduate-level course in multimedia journalism skills.
I produced video journalism for The Boston Globe, where I won an Emmy Award for video editing for a documentary about sexual assault survivors. My passion for documentary film began while I was earning my Bachelor’s in Journalism and Master’s in Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. In college, I went to Chiapas, Mexico to photograph stories about women’s rights and access to reproductive health care. I also worked on five documentaries in varying roles including director, director of photography, editor and producer. My work has appeared on HBO, PBS, The Boston Globe, Center for Public Integrity, Al Jazeera America and The Today Show, among others.
